Initial Visit

Your First Visit To Ricardo A. Suarez, D.D.S.

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultationexplaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, treatment can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your surgical referral slip and any x-rays if applicable.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
  • IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.

Making An Appointment

It is easy to make an appointment for your initial examination and dental treatments with Ricardo A. Suarez, D.D.S.. Our office of Ricardo A. Suarez, D.D.S., a Dentist in West Covina CA is open Monday through Friday, and on Saturday by special appointment. Patient hours range from 7 am to 7pm. If you are experiencing pain or have an emergency situation, we pre-reserve emergency time daily to accommodate your needs.

We are committed to seeing our patients on time and strive to minimize any time you may have to wait. As Dr. Suarez and his associates provide many types of dental services, individual circumstances may necessitate a change in the amount of time allocated for a procedure. Emergency cases may also arise and have an impact on our schedule. We appreciate your understanding and patience when this occurs.

First Exam

Initial Examination

A preoperative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients undergoing IV anesthesia or oral sedation for surgery. Please have nothing to eat or drink eight hours prior to your surgery. You will also need an adult to drive you home.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).

X-Rays: If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.

Pain Concerns

Pain Concerns

We work to ensure our patients feel comfortable, and that includes minimizing their pain as much as possible. If you are undergoing a dental procedure, Drs. Suarez and Tam will meet with you to discuss your pain tolerance and create a plan for pain management. Working together, we will treat your dental health problems in a way that minimizes pain and enables you to get back to your life faster.


Dental Insurance

Your dental plan is a form of compensation provided by your employer. You can expect the third-party carrier (insurance company) to reimburse you for a portion of our fee. That portion is determined by the contract between your employer and the insurance company. The higher the premium paid by your company, the more generous the reimbursement.

Although we may not be a party to the contractual arrangement with your insurance company, we do want to help you receive the maximum reimbursement to which you are entitled. As a convenience to you we will help you process your insurance claims in order for you to receive this maximum benefit. We will also gladly provide dental x-rays and a written diagnostic report should your insurance company have any questions about the services provided.

At all times, you can be confident that we will always provide you with our best services without regard to the limitations imposed by your insurance coverage. To do otherwise would violate our contract with you — a contract we feel morally obliged to honor.
