In its early stages, decay cannot be seen with the naked eye. In fact, decay can even be difficult to see on x-rays until it is more extensive. So it makes sense that early detection is the most ethical and conservative way of treating dental caries.
Using the DIAGNOdent laser, a diagnostic device, Dr. Suarez is now able to detect cavities in the earliest stages, before it progresses and damages healthy tooth structure.

DIAGNOdent is a slim wand or pen that glides easily over your teeth, scanning each tooth with a harmless laser. Simply, quickly and painlessly, the DIAGNOdent allows us to “see” into the occlusal pits and fissures so that we can diagnosis any decay, even very small caries lesions. With the DIAGNOdent we can avoid the need for “exploratory” probing and excavation of any suspect tooth, removing the doubt of whether a tooth should be opened and filled or just watched.
